Makers at the Intersection
In collaboration with Shawn Murrey
Exhibition Statement:
This two-person show explores the intrinsic interplay between art, design and manufacturing. Based in Alfred, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina Shawn Murrey and Thomas Schmidt use porcelain tile, plywood, sheet-metal, hundreds of magnets and a range of manufacturing techniques to generate modular parts that were snapped together for the first time for this exhibition.
This show was originally shown as a concurrent exhibition for the 2018 NCECA Conference in Pittsburgh, PA.
